Kop Duin residential towers in Almere, the Netherlands
In just a few years, Duin has become a unique place in the Netherlands where living, working and recreation come together in harmony in one place. All the apartments in the San-Francisco and Sydney tower blocks will be finished to a high standard with complete kitchen and bathroom, a dedicated parking space and several storage facilities. Smart demand-controlled mechanical ventilation unit with heat recovery was also a must.
“Always holiday time” is the motto of the San Francisco and Sydney tower blocks. It is not just the view over the IJmeer that creates that feeling. It is also the dune landscape surrounding the building and the fact that you are right on the beach as soon as you walk out of the building. You can always get a breath of fresh air here, enjoy sports or relax in the sun when the weather is fine.
Pleasant indoor climate in the home
There is a pleasant indoor climate inside as well: the tower block residents enjoy optimal indoor living conditions thanks to the use of an intelligent mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery. The DucoBox Energy Premium mechanical ventilation unit with heat recovery ventilates two zones (day and night zone) independently of each other, based on CO2 measurement. If the CO2 concentration exceeds the set target value for the zone in question, ventilation in that zone will be increased.
The benefit of integrated control lies in the convenient plug-and-play concept: only basic wiring is needed for the ventilation box power supply. Additional electronics between the Mechanical ventilation unit with heat recovery and an external valve are not needed with the DucoBox Energy Premium.
Acoustic comfort
“Another feature is the acoustic comfort for the residents of the tower blocks,” says Danny Kroet, Van Dam Group project manager. “Residents need not worry about noise. Partly thanks to the integrated 2-zone control, but also to the favourable positioning of the extract units and the use of sound-absorbing material, the air supply is the quietest on the market (55 dB at 325 m³/h).”
